It will offer many users an easier way to find an image they are looking for, even if the image does not have keywords and the user cannot remember when they captured the image. The new Lightroom CC now is designed to work with Lightroom on Mobile devices and will offer a seamless transition when users switch between Mobile and Desktop. Lightroom CC Sensei Search: Describe your image and Lightroom finds it. The Import Workflow in the new Lightroom CC has but a single option – choose to import to an existing Album or not. The idea behind the new Lightroom CC is that it is much more tightly integrated into working with Adobe’s Creative Cloud when compared to Lightroom Classic. This brings us today and Nimbus is now officially Lightroom CC and the program we have been calling Lightroom CC will now be known as Lightroom Classic. Adobe then accidentally made the App available to some of its Creative Cloud users back in July 2017 – this meant that Adobe was still working on the project nearly a year later. Adobe announced they were engaged in developmental work on a Cloud-Based Imaging App during the 2016 Adobe Max conference in Las Vegas. The new version of Lightroom did not just spring out of thin air (or fall from Adobe’s Cloud in the sky). The new Lightroom CC simply offers an alternative streamlined workflow for users who want to store their full resolution image files in the Cloud. The newer Lightoom CC (a Cloud Centric app) has NOT been designed to supersede or replace your existing workflow. For most professional and keen amateur photographers this will continue to be your application of choice. If you have been a Lightroom user for many years your desktop application will now, most likely, be called Lightroom Classic. Adobe are describing the difference as either ‘Cloud Centric’ or ‘Desktop Centric’. But if they need to, Lightroom Classic can provide a much better experience.Photographers now have two choices when it comes to working with Lightroom to manage, edit and share their images – Lightroom CC or Lightroom Classic. I’m sure most professional photographers don’t print these days. Generally speaking, Lightroom Classic gives photographers the functionality they need for more professional applications. Why pay for extra data when you’re on the road or if you’re at home? Functionality I always edit off of external drives while some folks use their computer’s internal drives. If you need to work faster, it’s better to keep images on your computer or an external drive. Lightroom CC stores your images in the cloud while Lightroom Classic stores them on your computer. If you want to customize your experience, plugins are the way to go. Then there are noise-reduction plugins and so much more. We’ve used things like JPEG Mini to make our images smaller. These give you lots of other functionalities. One of the biggest reasons has to do with plugins. Lightroom Classic is more robust than Lightroom CC. With all this said, we’re still sharing what we believe to be the truth on why Lightroom Classic is more popular than Lightroom CC. We’ve asked Adobe about getting back on their press list: no response. Camera and lens manufacturers have respected our decisions, for the most part. Manufacturers also tend to agree with us. This felt unfair we only believed we were using a superior product. When we started to switch from Adobe toward Capture One, Adobe began to sever our press relations. In The Phoblographer’s history though, Adobe has spent far more money with us. But in the past, they’ve hired us to publish sponsored content. And nothing exports at the same quality that Capture One does either.įor the record, we’re not sponsored by Capture One. These days, when I open up Lightroom Classic, I sometimes notice an easier interface, but at other times it just seems confusing. But when speed and overall performance issues began popping up, we switched. Lightroom Classic used to be our full testing standard for cameras and lenses. For many years now, The Phoblographer switched our staff to Capture One.
